Why Will My Job Automatically Pause?

Pause jobs automatically based on unqualified applications and response activity to maintain a manageable hiring pace

Automatic job pausing makes sure that you only receive as many applications as you can actually process, tailored to your response speed. This keeps your application process manageable, talents get feedback promptly, and you secure a consistently positive talent experience.

When Does a Job Automatically Pause?

A job automatically pauses when a certain number of unqualified applications is reached. An application is considered unqualified if two conditions are met at the same time:

  • No qualifying interaction has taken place (see below).
  • The application is at least three business days old.

As soon as you actively respond again, the job can be reactivated in your application overview. Before a job is deactivated, you'll also receive a warning email, so you can step in early.

đź’ˇ Note:
A quick average response time no longer prevents automatic pausing. What matters is that you actively process applications, because each qualifying interaction reduces the number of unqualified applications and lowers the risk of reaching the threshold.

When Is an Application Considered "Processed"?

An application is considered qualified as soon as at least one of the following interactions has taken place:

  • You've sent a chat message to the talent.
  • You've moved the application to a different stage (e.g., Shortlist, First interview, Second interview, Offer, Hired).
  • You've rejected the application.

As long as none of these interactions have occurred, the application remains unqualified and counts toward the threshold after three business days.
