How do I deactivate a position?
Deactivate a position in Instaffo using the three-dot menu on the Positions page to stop accepting applications and remove it from the talent feed
In this article, you'll learn how to completely deactivate a position in Instaffo. After deactivation, no new applications will be accepted and the position will be removed from the talent feed.








Starting deactivation

Open the more options menu
Navigate to the Positions page and make sure the Active tab is selected. Click on the three-dot menu (⋮) on the right side of the position card for the position you want to deactivate. -
Select deactivate
In the dropdown menu that appears, you'll find the options Edit, Pause position, and Deactivate. Click on Deactivate to start the deactivation process.
Setting deactivation options

Choose between pausing and deactivating
A dialog box titled Pause or deactivate this position will appear. Choose the option that fits your needs:- Deactivate position: The position will be completely closed. No new applications will be accepted and the position will no longer appear in the talent feed. Use this option if you no longer want to fill the position.
- Pause position: Applications will be paused, but chats and pipeline will remain available. The talent feed can continue to be used.
Select Deactivate position and click Next.

Specify whether the position was filled through Instaffo
You'll be asked: "Was this position filled through Instaffo?" Choose the answer that applies:- Yes, I hired someone through Instaffo
- No, I didn't hire through Instaffo
If you choose No, an additional required field will appear where you need to select the reason for deactivation from a dropdown menu (for example, "I currently have enough applications on other platforms"). Then click Next.

Give feedback about your experience
Finally, you'll be asked: "How was your experience with this position on Instaffo?" Choose one of two options:- Good - "I had a positive experience"
- Not so good - "There's room for improvement"
Managing open applications

Reject or skip open applications
If there are still open applications for this position, another dialog box will appear. Here you can send a rejection message to the talents. The message is already pre-written and informs the talents that the position has been closed. You can edit the message if needed or use a template. Click Reject to reject the selected talents, or click Skip to handle this step later.
Checking your deactivated position

View deactivated positions
To see your deactivated positions, click on the Deactivated tab on the Positions page. The number of deactivated positions is displayed next to the tab. -
Open a deactivated position
In the Deactivated tab, you'll see all your deactivated positions. Each position card shows the status Deactivated next to the position title. You can still click on View applications or Duplicate to copy the position and publish it again.
Your position is now deactivated and appears in the Deactivated tab on your positions overview page. No new applications will be accepted.
